Framework Quickstarts

Use Supra with Vue

Learn how to create a Supra project, add some sample data to your database, and query the data from a Vue app.

1

Set up a Supra project with sample data

Create a new project in the Supra Dashboard.

After your project is ready, create a table in your Supra database using the SQL Editor in the Dashboard. Use the following SQL statement to create a countries table with some sample data.

SQL_EDITOR

_10
-- Create the table
_10
CREATE TABLE countries (
_10
id SERIAL PRIMARY KEY,
_10
name VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL
_10
);
_10
-- Insert some sample data into the table
_10
INSERT INTO countries (name) VALUES ('United States');
_10
INSERT INTO countries (name) VALUES ('Canada');
_10
INSERT INTO countries (name) VALUES ('Mexico');

2

Create a Vue app

Create a Vue app using the npm init command.

Terminal

_10
npm init vue@latest my-app

3

Install the Supra client library

The fastest way to get started is to use the supra-js client library which provides a convenient interface for working with Supra from a Vue app.

Navigate to the Vue app and install supra-js.

Terminal

_10
cd my-app && npm install @supra/supra-js

4

Create the Supra client

Create a /src/lib directory in your Vue app, create a file called supraClient.js and add the following code to initialize the Supra client with your project URL and public API (anon) key.

src/lib/supraClient.js

_10
import { createClient } from '@supra/supra-js'
_10
_10
export const supra = createClient('https://<project>.supra.co', '<your-anon-key>')

5

Query data from the app

Replace the existing content in your App.vue file with the following code.

src/App.vue

_21
<script setup>
_21
import { ref, onMounted } from 'vue'
_21
import { supra } from './lib/supraClient'
_21
_21
const countries = ref([])
_21
_21
async function getCountries() {
_21
const { data } = await supra.from('countries').select()
_21
countries.value = data
_21
}
_21
_21
onMounted(() => {
_21
getCountries()
_21
})
_21
</script>
_21
_21
<template>
_21
<ul>
_21
<li v-for="country in countries" :key="country.id">{{ country.name }}</li>
_21
</ul>
_21
</template>

6

Start the app

Start the app and go to http://localhost:5173 in a browser and you should see the list of countries.

Terminal

_10
npm run dev
